@Otaku Yeah, possibly the major reason Valve is such a good company for consumers. Almost every time I hear about Valve in the news, Valve is in the right and on the consumers side.

(Now the lawsuit news story a month or two ago... not so much, but we all have exceptions)

Totally agree. Sometimes I wonder if companies actually want to make stuff for the consumer. But then again Western game companies actively hate the consumer... so IDK any more. I think our economic models aren't right.

Not only they bought Enix to shut down competition.

They killed off their brands too.

Now you get the 100th bad port of your average FF but things like this are still Japanese exclusives

I'm going to be honest I don't really know any Enix games... However looking through the list and seeing PAL NP (Not Published) for like 90% of the games, I'm really not surprised.

So I did a trial rip of my first ever 4K anime, and there's still a lot of stuff to learn. Thanks to DRM, these yak shaving will take up a lot of my and other people's time.

There's like 0 complete guides online that explains how to do this thing the right way. I might be the first one to write it in the future.

utterly lazy textures, flat ground, the general feeling of little love.

the only other 1996 game i'm aware of that has stunning animation is crash bandicoot, which i think is the best of its time.

but it's a different style of animation

You don't need thousand polygons and ultra hd 120fsp graphics.

now this has a sort of uncanny valley effect for me: if the gameplay looks like anime, i don't think i can enjoy it

You mostly need love and artistic design

@Memor-X you are right, it was the guy that reposted it that was annoyed.

@SPArcheon-onstrike so with this, keep in mind they are 2 different kinds of games where the game world has to accommodate different systems. Ni nu Kuni transitions to a separate area for combat so there is no need to think about the player jumping, running and attacking in the game world

and there is an invisible wall to enclose the area

you can see the difference even at the start because combat in real time systems is actually easier when you got a flat ground

when you don't have a flat ground, you have to warry sometimes about hitboxes getting stuck in inlines. as is the case in Cold Steel 3 when sometimes when you transition into combat, your character positions can push someone in just the wrong way that they can not move in combat (happened with Juna in the Isthmia Great Forest once)

@Memor-X my bad, I wasn't very clear.

I wasn't exactly lamenting the fact that the ground is "flat" as in "no hills"

I was lamenting that the ground is a board with a green/brownish (somehow blurry) texture.

could use some love to make it feel a little more alive, even if that is supposed to be a virtual world.

mind you, it is a very common problem, but some designs make it more blatant than others.

To put it into frame, playing Zelda BOTW / TOTK I feel like Link is walking on grass. Many JRPG you feel like you are walking on a brown board with some occasional grass spot
